Bludvera is a five piece thrash metal outfit hailing from Liverpool. A blend of influences from the Bay Area and German teutonic thrash bands of the 80’s has resulted in their first release; a free demo capable of engaging any thrash fan from beginning to end.
Opener Tools of Bloodshed starts with a series of eerie clean arpeggios in the vein of early Metallica, before picking up pace. It is at this point that we are first introduced to the impressive vocals of frontman Scott. Complimenting the genre perfectly, they are easily comparable to those of Slayer’s Tom Araya.
The band’s impressive musicianship is demonstrated further in second track Maniac, a full-frontal thrash number featuring masterful guitar solos and riff work.
Third track Total Recall is arguably the strongest track on the demo, boasting brilliant riffs and a memorably catchy chorus which would surely invite crowd involvement during a live performance.
Final track Submerged by Death maintains the pure thrash brutality of Total Recall, beginning with an impressive guitar solo. Further solos later in the track are equally as engaging, once again showcasing the talents of guitarists Mike and Patto.
Thrash bands can often fail to deliver by re-hashing generic riffs and song structures; however Bludvera avoid this and succeed in entertaining the listener throughout the demo, and leaving them wanting to hear more.
Bludvera recently won an opening slot for rising UK thrash stars Evile, and have secured upcoming support slots with thrash revival bands Gama Bomb, Bonded By Blood and Lazarus A.D. Although currently unsigned, with thrash growing ever more popular as a genre, 2011 is sure to be a promising year for the band.
